 A gooseneck trailer is defined by the existence of a pivoting coupling arm attached to a ball that is mounted in the bed of a vehicle, typically a pickup truck. The hitch is almost always mounted over the rear axle in the truck bed. A gooseneck trailer will often be utilized for heavy loads and equipment towing rather than a standard bumper pull trailer because of its increased stability and tighter turning radius.
